Rollits supports the Humber Renewables Awards 2012
Date: 01/02/2012

Rollits is sponsoring the Humber Renewables Champion category of the awards.

HIGHLIGHTING the Humber's strengths is vital in attracting continued green energy investment, according to a Hull-based legal expert specialising in the renewables industry.

Richard Stirk, head of the renewables sector team at Rollits, said it was increasingly important to showcase how much the region has to offer the renewable energy market, given the potential to bring new business and jobs to the area.

It comes as Rollits announced its sponsorship of the Humber Renewables Awards 2012.

The awards recognise individuals, organisations and businesses that are working to develop renewables as a major industry in the region.

Rollits is sponsoring the Humber Renewables Champion category of the awards.

This award is aimed at those who have raised the profile of the Humber area in the renewables arena and who have positively promoted the region's potential to be a leader in the renewables.

Mr Stirk said promoting and outlining the region's qualities, both locally and beyond, is needed in the fast-paced sector of green energy.

He said: "We are very pleased to be sponsoring the Humber Renewables Champion category at this year's inaugural awards.

"This region has been thrust into the forefront of the UK's green energy revolution. The renewables industry is fundamental to the future economy of Hull and the Humber and it is therefore crucial that we do not ignore this opportunity to promote renewables as a major industry in the region."

The awards are being hosted by Footprint Renewables.

The winners of the eight award categories will be announced at a dinner at The Deep, Hull, on Friday, March 2.

Mr Stirk said renewables was a growth sector for Rollits.

He said: "Alongside the huge and exciting changes in energy production, Rollits is responding to evolving legislation and the significant increase in demand for specialist legal advice within the sector.

"We have nearly a decade of experience in dealing with legal issues surrounding renewable energy developments. Many of our clients were among the first in the UK to grasp the opportunities provided by new energy technology. Throughout that period we have formed strong partnerships with clients, gathering the essential experience needed to deal effectively and comprehensively with the complex and specific legal aspects of the sector."

Rollits works with many landowners throughout Yorkshire on wind farm developments at all stages, and has helped many agricultural clients to maximise the returns offered by wind energy installations.

The firm also has significant experience in biomass, photovoltaic technology combined heat and power plants and hydroelectricity developments, working on behalf of hydroelectricity companies, consortiums of landowners and community interest companies.

It has advised on financial security issues, leases to secure land options, land development diligence, planning, utility contract negotiations, funding, construction and project management.
